Yoel 3:17

The Lord’s Presence in Zion

3:17 You will be convinced ¹  that I the Lord am your God,

dwelling on Zion, my holy mountain.

Jerusalem ²  will be holy –

conquering armies ³  will no longer pass through it.

Mikha 4:7

4:7 I will transform the lame into the nucleus of a new nation, ⁴ 

and those far off ⁵  into a mighty nation.

The Lord will reign over them on Mount Zion,

from that day forward and forevermore.” ⁶ 

Ibrani 12:22-23

12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion, the city ⁷  of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the assembly 12:23 and congregation of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous, who have been made perfect,

[3:17]  ³ tn Heb “strangers” or “foreigners.” In context, this refers to invasions by conquering armies.

[4:7]  ⁴ tn Heb “make the lame into a remnant.”

[4:7]  ⁵ tn The precise meaning of this difficult form is uncertain. The present translation assumes the form is a Niphal participle of an otherwise unattested denominative verb הָלָא (hala’, “to be far off”; see BDB 229 s.v.), but attractive emendations include הַנַּחֲלָה (hannakhalah, “the sick one[s]”) from חָלָה (khalah) and הַנִּלְאָה (hannil’ah, “the weary one[s]”) from לָאָה (la’ah).

[4:7]  ⁶ tn Heb “from now until forever.”

[12:22]  ⁷ tn Grk “and the city”; the conjunction is omitted in translation since it seems to be functioning epexegetically – that is, explaining further what is meant by “Mount Zion.”
